Pupils Testimonials, Edington 8 - 13

Here are some testimonials that our pupils have kindly contributed.

I had three years of misery before Edington. This is a happy school

Chloe, a  Pupil at Edington, came from a Primary school in Wales where class sizes reached 35.

Staff at Edington had to first to overcome her loathing of the world at large, and schooling in particular. A very angry, very upset young lady she had been badly bullied in Wales, even by the her headmaster.  In one incident she was hung up on a coat peg and allowed to fall on her head. Her mother’s protests were ignored.

Chloe has a younger brother and sister, both now being taught by their mother at home.

“My mother had a big fight to get me into this school, and now she’s trying to get my brother here, too. I just wish he could come. I had three years of misery before Edington. This is a happy school.”

Why? “Because we are all the same here. We all have the same problems. No-one points fingers. No-one sniggers.  No-one makes me feel stupid.”

Chloe is in her second year at the school and hopes to go on to Shapwick. She is a school prefect and is in the top flight at Maths and is a girl with ambitions.

“I would like to be a professional photographer like my step-father.”
The school’s well-equipped photo labs could be her stepping-stone

If not a photographer, she wants to be a midwife.

School is great!

School is great and the teachers are helpful, they really take the time to explain everything to you, the school dinners are really good as well.

This school is perfect.

This school is perfect because you get the education you need if you’re dyslexic.

At this school I feel like I’m progressing and I would give it 10/10!

Schools good, I really like it because of my friends and also I like it because I get help in lessons. The boarding house is nice because the house parents are always bright and cheerful and I feel like I could go to them if I needed help.  At my last school I was one out of 1000 other pupils. I didn’t get help. At this school I feel like I’m progressing and I would give it 10/10!

I’m happier here and my family say I look happier.

I came here because we thought I would get a better opportunity and it was close to family. I’m happier here and my family say I look happier.

At my last school I sat at the back and did nothing.

I think Edington and Shapwick is good because you learn more and you have friends. At my last school I sat at the back and did nothing.  I didn’t learn a lot.  I’ve learnt a lot at Edington and Shapwick School. I had a helper at my last school but when she wasn’t there I couldn’t do anything so I sat at the back of class with my mates and messed about.

I wasn’t happy at my last school because I didn’t fit in.

I wasn’t happy at my last school because I didn’t fit in. It’s been good at Edington. Lessons are good and some are fun. At my last school I was in a big group and I got frustrated and didn’t feel like I was learning anything. My dad thinks I’ve matured since I’ve been here.

I'm really enjoying it here.

"I'm really enjoying it here because you're learning and meeting new friends. You can get better at something that you've always wanted to do. You can ask a question without feeling intimidated, like I used to at my old school. Here we are all the same."
