As part of their historical studies, Year 7 pupils from Edington & Shapwick School visited Caerleon in South Wales last week to view the remains and artefacts from its Roman Fortress originally known as Isca.
The pupils enjoyed trying on replicas of the Roman armour and did observational drawings from life-size models of three ranks of Roman soldiers. Pupils asked a barrage of questions in the final ‘question and answer session’ which really impressed the Guide.
Mrs Irons organised the trip and commented “It was clear from the pupils’ written reviews that they gained so much more awareness and appreciation of these important Invaders as a result of the visit”.
