Past Pupil Reunion October 4th 2008
This was a great occasion that brought together an afternoon of nostalgia and a social gathering in the evening to make a hugely successful event. Many who now can only be described as successful young men, found themselves in rooms that they had not seen for 10 or more years (one for 24 years!). For many it was a strange feeling that filled them with awe and disbelief that they were there. The hayloft, church farm and games rooms were amongst new additions for most. The library with its ornate tiled floor that was once used for assemblies and holds the head pupils’ board brought the most memories, so many seemed to know which tile they used to stand on. Church farm housing a much expanded art department from their time and the well equipped design block made some feel quite envious. Several found it difficult to leave and took a trip down memory lane by joining in with present pupils at roll call, tea and football on the tennis courts. Some visited the Lakes and returned on Sunday to the Manor to complete the weekend.

Present pupils enjoyed the company of the past pupils and their stories. It was generally felt that the school felt warmer due, we think, to carpeting in the Manor and not just floor boards! At 7 O’clock the Tom Mogg at Burtle began filling with past pupils, partners, ex staff and staff and before long the room was filled with photos, happiness, chatter, food and drink.

The reunion is traditionally a two year event and pupils that have been left for two years or more are invited. We look forward to future events and are planning to form a liaison group comprising of one member from each year group so that they can pass on information to others in their year.
